Traces of Humanity: Gibraltar’s Window into Deep Time is a talk by Professors Clive and Geraldine Finlayson, taking place at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery in Gibraltar on Wednesday 8 July at 7pm.
The presentation explores the Gorham’s Cave Complex as a remarkable window into Gibraltar’s deep past, tracing human presence in the area back 130,000 years and placing the site within a wider story of movement, survival and discovery.
From early human activity to ancient mariners at one of the Pillars of Heracles, the talk invites audiences to consider Gibraltar not only as a geographical landmark, but as a place where archaeology, history and myth meet at the edge of the known world.
As part of the Traces of Humanity programme, the event offers an engaging look at the traces left by past peoples and the ways in which Gibraltar’s landscape continues to shape our understanding of human history.
