The 'Gibraltar Calling' is an exhibition jointly curated by Gibtelecom, the PK Porthcurno Museum of Global Communications, and the Garrison Library. The exhibition will be on display from 3rd to 24th October at the Garrison Library.
The exhibition will be free entry for the public during the Library’s regular opening hours and will also welcome local schools for specially arranged tours.
Spanning 155 years of history, it traces Gibraltar’s journey from the commissioning of the first submarine cable in 1870 to today’s digital age. Visitors can enjoy interactive exhibits, discover artefacts dating back to 1870, and follow the transformation from telegrams to fibre optics and mobile technology — showcasing how these advances reshaped Gibraltar’s role in global communications.
