Adrian Cabedo

Adrian Cabedo (born in 1956 in Gibraltar) is a seasoned artist whose creativity has been shaped by his unique life experiences including commercial diving, photography, climbing and yacht-skippering. Early recognition of his artistic talent came when he received his first art prize in 1968 — a moment that effectively marked the beginning of his professional artistic journey.

Though largely self-taught, Cabedo refined his technique further under the mentorship of Roger Shantz. His primary artistic interest lies in depicting nature: the land and seascapes of Gibraltar and the nearby Andalusian coastline. These subjects are rich in variation — dramatic rock faces, shifting coastal light, moored boats, rugged vegetation — and offer him an endless source of inspiration.

Working predominantly in oils, Cabedo also explores watercolours, pastels and mixed media. His exhibitions have included the Gibraltar Open Art Exhibition (where he first showed work in 1982) and ventures into the UK and Spain. His works now reside in private and corporate collections worldwide, including those of the Government of Gibraltar and various ambassadors.

Adrian’s paintings are honest and direct: he prefers that his work “speaks for itself” rather than relying on lengthy statements.
